Qiu Hong

Since winning the World Champion title of the World Battle of the Bands in 2005 (and beating seven other countries to the title) Qiu Hong have proven themselves to be a force to be reckoned with in the Hong Kong music scene.

The foursome first came together in May 2002 – giving themselves a name inspired by a book. "Qiu" means autumn in Chinese, and "Hong" is red "which represents the hot blood inside of us, and also the color of fire".

Qiu Hong have a stunning array of original songs, and they play them with a burning energy. They mix political elements into their songwriting – front man Jan brings a megaphone on stage with him. With a new album coming out this spring, Qiu Hong look like they'll be making it big in Hong Kong this year.

As the band says: "We hope all of you are ready for the voice from our heart, hope our melodies can touch you. We are shouting to keep our blood flowing, which can keep us alive. Nothing can change our eager devotion to music. The thing we love most is MUSIC, the thing that we can't live without, is MUSIC."
