    The Shotgun She-ras

    Well Howdy, stranger…

So you wanna hear the story of the Shotgun She-ras, do yah?

The Shotgun She-ras are a bunch of gals from all over this big wide world who met up in Hong Kong where they all became good friends. They've got Sholan Tsang singin' and playin' guitar, Meg Olinger - she also plays the guitar, and there's Claire Tallon playin' the bass and singin' some, and Annette Gallant on the drums. Annette's sorta new to the band, she took over after the original drummer Becky up and left town.

Anyhow, back to the story of the girls. Y'see, the girls all realized that they shared a deep love for country music. Not that stuff they're playin' on the radio these days… ain't talkin' about no Shania Twain or nothin' like that. They liked that old-timey music from the Kentucky mountains - Dolly Parton, Lorretta Lynn, Del McCoury - and some of the newer stuff like Gillian Welch and Alison Krauss.

After formin' themselves a band on New Year's Eve 2004, the She-ras up and hit the stage. So far they've played some pretty big shows, like the Rockit Festival 2005 and a support spot for Yeti this June just passed. And they've become a regular fixture at Amnesia, that club in SoHo.

They started out playin' some of the classics from the singers they loved, but now they've written theyselves a whole lotta their own material. In fact, they gettin' started on recording their first record right now, as we speak!

Well, that's the story of the Shotgun She-ras. Hope you enjoyed it… and remember - never squat with your spurs on!
